IITH Special bolts and nuts suitable for hydraulic bolt tensioning cylinders and other applications

Selection criteria bolt connection elements
ITH bolt connection elements are used on high load connections on antifriction bearings and within the turbine construction. As we offer the range of specialty bolts together with the range of bolt tensioning tools the bolts are usually selected according to our recommendations.

Bolt connection elements are designed according to the load factors and Type of load (statically, dynamically and thermally). Design fundamentals for highly stressed bolt joints are according to VDI 2230. The following description of the individual bolt elements can be used as a selection guide.

In order to obtain a economical and technically acceptable connection, ITH recommends hexagon nuts up to thread size M39 according to EN ISO 4032. From size M42 upwards we recommend ITH round nuts type RMZ or RMS.

  • Stress concentration in the bolt head
  • Tear danger by staved head
  • Reduced angle accuracy thread axle to bearing surface
  • Procurement for special materials
  • Not usuable in applications with high bending loads

  • Smaller surface area between nut and flange surface due to larger outside diameter
