The Radius Master provides a multitude of
uses selected by using an easy to operate index knob. Instantly
available is a choice of contact wheel grinding, flat and
edge grinding and slack belt grinding

The versatility provided can be further expanded
to that of a bobbin grinder for accurate edge profiling. This
facility is available by laying the machine on its side using
the optional tilting stand and table.
Activated by a single clamp lever the machine
is layed over at 90° so that the belt travels on a horizontal
plane.
The work table can then be attached adjacent
to the small wheel selection. A simple operation with no tools
needed.
The table tilts up 20° and down 45°.
It is especially useful for knife makers, tool makers and
pattern makers.

Notching and
contouring on small contact wheels
|
The five contact wheels are brought into position
by simply actuating an index knob and rotating in seconds
to the desired position.
The wheel diameters are ¾ (19mm),
1 (25mm), 1½ (38mm), 3½ (89mm)
& 8 (203mm). All guards swivel out of position for
easy access.
All wheels are precision ground, highest quality
polyurethane. Large wheels are 63 duro,three small wheels
are 83 duro. Wheels adjacent to the platen remain in alignment
when indexed.
The three small wheels are contained in a separate
revolving carriage at one of the stations and are indexed
by the smaller of the two knobs.
Note: Radius Masters design provides continuous
running of the small wheels.
The five work stations provide:
- Internal, external and hollow grinding on contact wheels
- Notch grinding and contouring on small contact wheels
- Flat grinding in vertical and horizontal position
- Edge grinding on tool rest (tilts up 20° and down
45°)
- Edge profiling an optional tilting stand and
table.
- Slack belt grinding in horizontal and vertical positions.

Radius Master's belt tracking performance
is exceptional. The premium belts that use a heavy polyester
backing are difficult and sometimes impossible to track on
other belt grinders. When pressure is applied to the edge
of the belt it normally slides sideways making it impossible
to grind a sharp corner.
Radius Master will track these belts with pin sharp accuracy
allowing not only sharp 90° corners to be ground but
angles down to 60°.

The belt change is speedy and simple to operate.
It can take less than 4 seconds.
Push or pull the belt in any position between the wheels.
The tensioning mechanism retracts and a catch automatically
holds it in this position to give easy access for removal
and replacement.
Accurate belt tracking and stability of the
belt when used near the edge can only be maintained when all
of the moving parts of the machine are rigidly held in position.
Looseness of as little as .004 (.1mm) has a drastic
effect on belt tracking performance.
Grinding grit will eventually partially or totally destroy
the performance of normal belt grinding machinery if left
unchecked.
Radius Masters designer with over 30 years experience
in building belt grinding machinery has designed this machine
to survive under the harshest conditions maintaining its
unique qualities, no matter how old the machine.
WEAR-OUT PROOF DESIGN
The essential sliding and rotating mechanism components
are separated by a Teflon layer which removes metal to metal
contact. The pivots are adjustable stainless steel cones
which ensure this rigid alignment will always be maintained.
Adjustment is simple and rarely, if ever needed.
Positive location of the small wheels is guaranteed with the
use of a hardened and ground pin with a tapered end which
slides in a hardened and ground bush. All contact wheels have
fully sealed ball bearings.
